When
you need a break from the heat of summer, it's
refreshing to know that your home is being
cooled quietly, efficiently and reliably.
Carrier has traditionally provided products that
outperform the competition, and the 38TRA
continues that heritage. Offering the advantages
of our exclusive Silencer System, this air
conditioner delivers cool comfort while
minimizing sound both inside and outside of your
home. And, because it's designed and built by
Carrier, the 38TRA offers reliability backed by
nearly a century of indoor weather expertise.
Carrier's exclusive Silencer System
combines four major design elements to control
sound created by air turbulence and vibration.
The Silencer System top allows air to flow
easily through the unit to minimize the sound
caused by air turbulence. This top design also
allows us to use an energy-saving low-speed fan
motor and fan to draw air across the unit's
outdoor coil. Beneath the compressor, a
vibration isolator plate combines two layers of
steel sandwiched around a rubbery insulation
material. This isolator plate absorbs sound and
vibration from the compressor. Finally, a
vinyl-wrapped sound hood covers the compressor
to further reduce exterior sound. With this
unique system, it would take about sixteen 38TRA
air conditioners, operating simultaneously, to
create the same amount of noise generated by one
typical air conditioner.
Enjoy
the quiet comfort of your home knowing that your
air conditioner is saving you money, too.
The Silencer System does more than just keep
sound to a minimum. It also helps the 38TRA work
more efficiently to conserve electricity.
Combine that performance with Carrier's
economical scroll compressor, and you can cool
your home at up to a remarkable 14.0 SEER
(Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) efficiency.
Keep in mind that most older models are rated at
about 8 SEER, and government minimum models are
rated at 10 SEER, making the 38TRA an excellent
choice at 12.0 SEER, earning it the EPA's Energy
Star seal for high efficiency.

Carrier has built a lasting reputation for
quality by offering air conditioners designed,
built and tested to perform dependably.
There's nothing quite as disappointing as
equipment failure, especially if it affects your
comfort in the heat of summer. Carrier
understands the need to build quality products
and backs it up with the industry's toughest
reliability testing program. In fact, we test
the 38TRA at 125°. That's a full 10° higher
than the industry standard requirements. Testing
of hand-built prototypes, assembly line testing,
and field testing of completed units help ensure
that when you buy Carrier, you can buy with
confidence.
We're confident in the durability of the
38TRA and we add peace of mind with elements
designed to protect its vital components.
External protection comes in the form of
Carrier's WeatherArmorTM III, a
cabinet system that protects the outdoor coil
against damage from rocks and sticks, as well as
your garden trimmer, to provide years of good
looks and durability. The wire guard design of
the WeatherArmorTM III system also
allows better airflow and easier coil inspection
and cleaning. This type of detailed protection
is what makes Carrier different from the
competition, and why homeowners nationwide put
their trust in Carrier for all of their indoor
comfort needs.

Exceptionally
quiet operation is achieved with Carrier's
Silencer System. Components of this system
include:
- Silencer System top which allows air to
glide smoothly through the system.
- Highly efficient fan designed to quietly
move outdoor air.
- Deluxe compressor sound hood absorbs
compressor noise.
- Compressor vibration isolator plate
prevents vibrational noise from being
transferred to the base pan.
Smooth, efficient operation is delivered
by the scroll compressor. Efficient refrigerant
compression is key to the air conditioner's
performance.
WeatherArmor III cabinet combines a
heavy-duty steel cabinet, ceramic-coated screws
and our enhanced coil guard for the ultimate in
lasting toughness and coil protection.
Better drainage of water and debris is
provided by the new base pan design to minimize
chances for corrosion.
Lasting durability, leak resistance and
durability of the outdoor unit are ensured
with our solid brass, back seated service
valves.
