As
the technological leader of the indoor weather
industry, Carrier understands what it takes to keep
you comfortable. Listening to the needs of
homeowners enables us to help find solutions to
their indoor weather needs. Our exclusive
WeatherShield series of air conditioners and heat
pumps is just one example of how Carrier uses
technology to create products to fit the precise
needs of homeowners.
Based
on the Carrier WeatherMate series, the 38CKS air
conditioner and the 38YCS heat pump deliver
affordable, energy efficient comfort. Both units
offer up to 11.5 SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency
Ratio) and the 38YCS heat pump delivers up to 7.5
HSPF (Heating Seasonal Performance Factor). With the
added corrosion-resistant features of WeatherShield
protection, these affordable, efficient units are
the perfect choice for homeowners in coastal areas.
Carrier's WeatherShield units are designed and
built specifically for use in the harsh, corrosive
environment of coastal areas. In
other words, they are tougher than your average heat
pump or air conditioner. That's the result of more
than twenty years of research studying the effects
of coastal conditions on home comfort products.
During that time, we have been able to determine the
very best combination of components to significantly
improve performance under adverse coastal
conditions. WeatherShield is the culmination of
these efforts, providing a tough, affordable unit
that performs well beyond typical standard models to
deliver enhanced indoor weather for years to come.
Carrier's coastal products provide another
example of leading technology from the company that
invented the concept of air conditioning. These
durable WeatherShield products provide advanced
durability backed by a limited warranty covering the
major components, including the outdoor coil. No
other product out there today can offer the same
extensive number of features that benefit you year
after year with continuous heating and cooling
comfort.
Proven
to last up to three times longer than standard air
conditioners and heat pumps, Carrier's WeatherShield
units are the perfect choice for homeowners living
in coastal areas. Carrier's reputation for
reliability is one that has been established and
maintained for nearly one hundred years. From the
first phases of development to the finished product,
Carrier's extensive testing ensures that each
WeatherShield unit meets our strict requirements for
performance and durability. Quite simply, our name
has lasted because we build products like the
WeatherShield air conditioner and heat pump that
deliver custom made indoor weather that lasts.

Rigorous testing by Carrier engineers has
shown the WeatherShield coil to last three times
longer than a standard coil in harsh coastal
conditions. This improved performance is due to
features such as the heavy-duty fin design that
resists trapping salt water and the added
protection of ArmorPlate coating.

ArmorPlate™
coating protects the unit's most vulnerable
component, the outdoor coil, from harsh salt air. A
specially formulated epoxy is permanently bonded to
the coil surfaces. This advanced technology helps
prevent the destructive galvanic corrosion that is
common in coastal areas.
WeatherArmor
cabinet protection provides reliable protection
for lasting performance. With the WeatherArmor coil
guard, your outdoor coil is protected from
potentially harmful weather conditions and accidents
such as hail, high winds, debris and lawn equipment.
The cabinet is made of a tough, galvanized steel
which is specially treated with a protective layer
of zinc phosphate, and then coated with an extremely
durable baked-on polymer coating. All external
screws are protected with a specially formulated
ceramic coating to prevent rust.
Advanced coil design has been improved for
coastal durability. Everything from increased
material thickness to airflow design and coil
rinseability has been combined to ensure
long-lasting heat transfer performance.
Dual paint coverage on all exposed sheet
metal delivers additional protection against harsh
coastal conditions. Only Carrier's dual paint system
applies a special protective coating on both the
front and back of the metal cabinet to shield it
from rust, both inside and out.
Protective top cap helps protect the
outdoor fan motor, motor mounts and the center of
the outlet grille from exposure to damaging salt
spray.
Coil isolator padding provides two key
levels of protection for both the coil and cabinet. First,
it raises the coil off the base pan to allow for
complete coil drainage of any contaminants. Second,
it protects the cabinet from damaging surface
scratches during handling and installation. Both
features promote long-lasting coil and cabinet
performance.

Always look for these
symbols, the heat pump industry seals of certified
performance, efficiency and capacity.
