Carrier
has always provided leadership and
innovation to the home comfort industry.
Now, in response to global concern over
ozone depletion, Carrier again leads the
world with the first non-ozone depleting
heat pump the 38YXA. This remarkable product
provides all of the heating and cooling
performance you've come to expect from
Carrier, along with excellent energy
efficiency ratings and reliability you can
depend on.

Act now and you'll be ahead later because the
existing heat pump
systems that use FreonŽ-22* will either be replaced
or converted for use with PuronŽ refrigerant.
By making the switch now, you will be doing your
part to help minimize the effects of ozone depletion
while enjoying the comfort, performance and
long-term reliability of Carrier indoor weather. The
38YXA heat pump easily surpasses the efficiency of
the older heat pump you are replacing. And, when
compared to newer models that use FreonŽ-22, the
38YXA is a sound investment because you'll avoid the
potentially high costs involved in maintaining an
indoor comfort system that uses the older
refrigerant.
Carrier products have always delivered
excellent reliability, and these new products with
Puron refrigerant improve on that record. In
fact, Carrier was the first company to offer a
long-term replacement for FreonŽ-22 as far back as
1996. That experience, coupled with our existing
knowledge of indoor weather technology has enabled
us to develop one of the most reliable, energy
efficient heat pump lines available. Environmentally
sound, economically prudent and extremely reliable,
Carrier's 38YXA heat pump with PuronŽ refrigerant
delivers the year-round comfort you and your family
expect from the industry leader.
No matter how the technology changes,
Carrier's commitment to providing you with the most
comfortable indoor weather stays the same. One
aspect of comfort that other manufacturers often
overlook is quiet operation. At Carrier, we
understand that when it's time to relax with the
family, the last thing you want to hear is a noisy
heat pump. The 38YXA, with Carrier's exclusive
Silencer System, is one of the quietest heat pumps
currently available.
The 38YXA includes our Silencer System top, an
extra-efficient fan, a heavy-duty compressor shell
with a sound deadening hood, and a compressor
vibration isolator plate. The Silencer System
top is designed to allow smooth, easy airflow into
and out of the outdoor unit to minimize sound and
air turbulence. This new top design also allows us
to utilize a low-speed fan motor with large-diameter
fan blades. These two features provide quieter, more
efficient operation than a high-speed fan. The
compressor vibration isolator plate is made of a
special vibration absorbing material surrounded by
two metal plates. It's mounted underneath the
compressor and prevents vibrational noise from
escaping. The sound hood is designed of
sound-absorbing materials which surround the
compressor and further enhance the quiet comfort of
the 38YXA. These components work together to reduce
noise from air turbulence and compressor operation,
making the 38YXA both quiet and unobtrusive.

In addition to delivering quiet comfort, the
Silencer System enhances the operational efficiency
of the 38YXA. Due to the improved airflow
throughout the outdoor coil, the heat pump system
doesn't have to work as hard as other systems. As a
result, the 38YXA delivers quiet indoor comfort with
improved energy efficiency ratings up to 8.6 HSPF
and 14.5 SEER.
Designed
to deliver the comfort, efficiency and
reliability of tomorrow, Carrier's 38YXA
heat pump is the perfect choice for
homeowners today. On the outside, our
WeatherArmorTM III system
combines a heavy, galvanized steel
cabinet, a heavy-duty wire grid and
ceramic-coated screws to protect your heat
pump system from rust, corrosion and other
potentially damaging outdoor elements.
Inside the unit, the rugged, durable
components are made of copper, brass and
aluminum for long-lasting comfort and
energy savings.
From the first phases of development
to the finished product, Carrier's
extensive testing ensures that each 38YXA
heat pump meets our strict requirements
for performance and durability. Our
reliability checks begin with design and
assembly-line testing. Then, Carrier
designs and tests the 38YXA for
applications up to 125°. That's a full 10°
higher than the industry standard
requirements. Finally, each product is
run-tested by a bank of computers which
check the vital functions to ensure that
your new heat pump will meet your comfort
demands.

By combining our knowledge of indoor weather
technology with new innovations and designs, Carrier
remains at the forefront of the indoor weather
industry. According to the Clean Air Act of
1990, FreonŽ-22* and other harmful refrigerants
will be phased out of use and homeowners will soon
have to turn to PuronŽ refrigerant to maintain
their indoor comfort. That's why Carrier has been
designing and testing heating and cooling equipment
that uses Puron, the refrigerant approved by the EPA
to replace FreonŽ-22. In fact, Carrier has been
offering Puron-based systems like the 38YXA since
1996, developing a complete line of products using
the world's first, long-term solution to ozone
depletion. Environmentally and economically sound,
and extremely reliable, Carrier's 38YXA heat pump
with Puron refrigerant provides the comfort you
expect from an industry leader like Carrier.

The 38YXA allows home-owners to avoid
the potentially skyrocketing costs for
servicing units with FreonŽ-22. In the
past, when a refrigerant has been
phased out, the costs of servicing products
using that refrigerant have risen
dramatically. It happened in the automobile
industry with FreonŽ-12, and it could
easily happen with FreonŽ-22. By choosing
the 38YXA with Puron refrigerant, you begin
saving money right away and avoid the
potentially higher service costs later.
Carrier products have always delivered
excellent reliability, and these new
products with PuronŽ refrigerant improve on
that record. In fact, our Puron-based
heat pumps have gained recognition
nationwide for dependable operation.
